November marked the transition from the contribution stage into final applications and intern selections. This is always one of the most active periods of the Outreachy cycle, and much of my work this month focused on reviewing intern selections and supporting communities as they evaluated applicants for intern selections.
At the beginning of the month, I continued assisting mentors as the contribution stage wrapped up. I answered questions about contribution expectations, clarified program guidance, and helped communities troubleshoot any last-minute issues that arose. As applicants submitted their final applications, I made sure mentors had the information they needed to assess contributions and review final applications.
A significant portion of my time went into supporting communities through the intern selection process. I followed up with mentors about pending decisions, helped clarify program rules when questions came up, and checked in with communities about their selections. Ensuring that mentors felt informed and supported was a central focus, especially as different communities worked through their final selections.
Throughout the month, I maintained steady communication with mentors and coordinators across email and other communication channels. I shared reminders, provided guidance, and made sure everyone remained on track with deadlines as the application period moved toward its conclusion.
By the end of November, most communities had finalized their selections, and the Organizers started to vet intern selection. With the Outreachy application period nearly complete, the focus is now shifting toward the next phase of the cycle. I’m looking forward to the intern announcement on December 1st and the official internship start on December 8th.
