February has been quite a whirlwind for us as we gear up for the May 2024 Outreachy round. We’ve been busy onboarding communities and mentors, and we recently had our last Zulip chat with the interns from the December 2023 cohort. It’s always a mix of emotions—feeling thankful for the journey but also a bit unsure about what comes next after Outreachy. Reading about the interns’ experiences and their plans post-internship has been really interesting.
Right now, we’re deep into preparations for the upcoming round. We’ve been holding onboarding calls for new communities and mentors and vetting projects. Our mentor onboarding sessions have been super helpful in giving mentors tips on how to make the most of the Outreachy program and navigate some of the more overwhelming stages of the program.
With the contribution stage kicking off in just four days, we’re all hands on deck to wrap up initial application reviews and finalize the project lists for the mentoring communities.
