January is the month of new beginnings, and I decided to embrace it by launching a new blog series that puts our amazing Outreachy mentors in the spotlight. As part of my resolutions for 2024, I committed to writing more, and I’m thrilled that this project aligns perfectly with that goal.
Our inaugural mentor interview is not yet live on the Outreachy blog, but it’ll be out soon. It was a pleasure talking to a dedicated Outreachy mentor and coordinator, and I can’t wait for you all to dive into the insights shared. This particular mentor is an Outreachy alum and a passionate Outreachy advocate. I hope this series becomes a source of inspiration for many.
Aside from starting a new blog series, the organizers have been immersed in internship feedback and gearing up for the Outreachy May 2024 cohort. I also had the pleasure of participating in the GNOME Africa Preparatory Bootcamp, where I delivered a talk on preparing for Outreachy and Google Summer of Code (GSoC). It felt great to connect with the audience virtually. It was a very engaging session, as the participants had so many questions about the Outreachy program.
